Sophie Manessiez’s practice revolves around the assembly of individually shaped porcelain elements, linked by a wire framework using a weaving technique. Each disc constitutes an autonomous fragment: a simple, repeated form, marked by the hand, the firing process and variations in texture. The whole is constructed with a delicate balance, where cohesion emerges from the juxtaposition and the relationship between the elements.

"Ce qui nous traverse" is fully part of this exploration of the fragmentary traces that remain. Some discs bear the mark of a fluid movement in the slip, a texture that partially crosses the surface before stopping or shifting. These traces evoke the emotions, experiences and states that inhabit us: they leave fragments of marks, creating reliefs, hollows, tensions and surges. The fragment thus becomes the site of a sensitive inscription, where what passes, what remains and what transforms coexist.
